Classic Steak Sauce

◦ ¼ cup oil
◦ 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
◦ ½ teaspoon finely minced garlic
◦ ¼ cup cider vinegar
◦ ½ teaspoon salt
◦ ½ teaspoon dry mustard
◦ ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
◦ ¼ teaspoon ground mace
◦ ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
Recipe
Heat the oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Add the vinegar, salt, mustard, nutmeg, mace, and cloves. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
Cool to room temperature and serve with steak.
Makes about ¾ cup
