Apple Butter
List of Ingredients
- 6 pounds apples, peeled and chopped fine
- 4-1/2 cups sugar
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Place apples in crockpot. Combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt, then add to apples and mix well. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low and cook for 9-10 hours or until thick and dark brown, stirring occasionally (store more frequently as it thickens to prevent sticking).
- Uncover and cook on low for 1 hour longer. If desired, stir with a wire whisk until smooth. Spoon into freezer containers leaving 1/2-inch head space. Cover, label and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 6 months.
