APPLE DUMPING
Apple Dumplings
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. shortening
2 T. butter
1/2 c. milk
6 apples
Make syrup by heating sugar, water, cinnamon and nutmeg; add butter
. Pare and core apples; cut in fourths.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder; cut in shortening.
Add milk and stir until moist.
Roll on floured board to ¼-inch thick.
Cut into 24 pieces. Place apples on dough.
Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and dot with butter.
Fold corners to center; press together.
Place 1-inch apart in greased baking pan.
Pour syrup over dumplings.
Bake at 375º for 35 minutes.
If you want bigger dumplings, cut apples in half.
Make dough pieces larger.
Bake until apples are soft.
