Recipe Introduction
This is a good, easy pulled pork recipe when you don’t have the time for making it on the smoker.
List of Ingredients
1 (5 pound) boneless pork butt or shoulder
2 Tablespoons chili powder
1 Tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoons salt
1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon pepper
Pinch cayenne pepper, optional
2 cups barbecue sauce of your choice
Soft hamburger buns
Recipe
Rinse pork and pat dry.
In a small bowl combine chili powder, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, pepper and cayenne (if using); rub into pork on all sides. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours or overnight.
Cook pork in a slow-cooker on low setting 10 hours (or on high for 5 hours).
Transfer to a cutting board and using 2 forks, shred; discard any large pieces of fat.
Transfer broth in cooker to a fat separator; drain off fat.
Return pork to slow cooker.
In a bowl, combine barbecue sauce and 3 cups of the broth; stir into pork and cook 2 hours more (or if on high, 1 hour more).
Serve on buns. Strain sauce into a bowl and serve on the side.
