    List of Ingredients




    1 1/2 lbs. stew beef, cut into 1" cubes.
    1/4 cup flour
    1/3 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 cup dry white wine or water
    1 - 14 1/2 oz. can Hunt's Stewed tomatoes
    1 1/4 cups water
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    3 or 4 peppercorns
    1 1/2 tsp. Italian herb seasonings
    1 Bay leaf
    6 carrots, cut in 1" chunks
    4 ribs of celery, coarsely sliced
    2 large turnips or potatoes, quartered
    1/4 lb. large mushrooms, sliced
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 small green pepper, chopped

    Recipe



    Dust meat with flour.
    In large Dutch oven or casserole, brown meat in oil.
    Add remaining ingredients. Stir well.

    Bake covered at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
    Season to taste with salt, if desired.

    Serves 6 - 8.
